Mineral spirits is a petroleum-derived liquid displaying effective solvent properties and blends well into oil-based paint, stain and varnish and had no odor. Applications include cleaning agents, degreasers, varnishes and paints. This chemical is insoluble in water, odorless, and contains poisonous ingredients such as hydrocarbons. It removes and dissolves grease, grime and oil from most surfaces. It can be used as a substitute for turpentine and it is also known as mineral turpentine.
